Val Thorens is the pinnacle of alpine excellence in the French Alps. It is situated in the heart of Les 3 Vallées and is known as Europe’s highest ski resort, standing at 2,300 metres with a magnificent mountain range as its backdrop. It's prime location ensures consistently excellent snow conditions throughout the season, making it a favourite for both seasoned skiers and newcomers. The resort boasts 32 lifts, including gondolas, chairlifts and drag lifts, allowing skiers and snowboarders quick and efficient access to over 150 kilometres of trails. 

 

With over 80 marked runs ranging from beginner greens to advanced black slopes, the terrain caters to all skill levels. The resort itself is part of the expansive Les 3 Vallées ski area, offering access to 600 kilometres of interconnected pistes making it the largest ski area in the world. Situated in a vast natural cirque overlooked by six glaciers, the Val Thorens ski area offers doorstep skiing with a multitude of itineraries so you can ski in the sunshine all day long.

 

Val Thorens isn’t just about skiing and snowboarding—it's vibrant après-ski scene is a major attraction. From lively bars like La Folie Douce, where slopeside parties take on a life of their own, to cosy spots serving traditional Savoyard dishes like fondue, raclette and tartiflette, there’s a rich variety of dining and nightlife options for everyone. Getting to Val Thorens is straightforward, with airports in Geneva, Lyon and Chambéry offering convenient transfers. By Air

The closest airports to Val Thorens are Geneva, Lyon, and Chambéry. Geneva and Lyon airports are about 2-3 hours away by car, while Chambéry is closer, offering a quicker transfer option for travellers.

By Train

Travelling by train is a great option, with the nearest station in Moûtiers. From there, regular bus or taxi services provide easy access to Val Thorens, about 45 minutes away.

By Car

Val Thorens is easily reachable by car, with well-maintained roads leading to the resort. While a car is not essential due to the resort’s excellent transport links, having one provides flexibility for exploring the wider Les 3 Vallées area.

By Bus

Direct buses run frequently from major transport hubs, including Geneva, Lyon, and Chambéry airports, as well as Moûtiers station. Pre-booked transfers are also available for added convenience.

By Private Transfer
