Covid 19

Reflecting on Covid-19

As the world grappled with the challenges presented by the Covid-19, the travel industry, including ski resorts worldwide underwent significant transformations. At Powder Holidays we understood the importance of staying informed and prepared with ski holidays during the 2022-23 season.

Staying Safe Amidst Uncertainty

COVID-19 remained a global risk, and it was essential to consider potential changes to government policies, outbreaks, and emerging strains of the virus when planning your trip. Prioritising your health and safety was paramount. Here are some guidelines to have followed:

  • Masked Up: Wearing a mask to protect yourself and others, especially in crowded or indoor settings, was recommended.
  • Practised Good Hygiene: Regularly washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and using hand sanitiser when soap and water were not available, was advised.
  • Maintained Physical Distance: Practising physical distancing by staying at least six feet away from others whenever possible was encouraged.

Travel Requirements

Before embarking on your journey, it was crucial to be aware of the travel requirements in place. These may have included:

  • Proof of Vaccination: Providing proof of vaccination through an International Certificate of Vaccination or similar documentation may have been necessary.
  • Pre-Travel Testing: Some destinations may have required travellers to undergo PCR testing before entry or departure. It was important to check the specific rules and regulations applicable to your destination before your trip.

For detailed information on COVID-19 and its impact on travel, consulting resources such as the Smart Traveller COVID-19 health advisory was recommended. Additionally, a step-by-step guide on planning, preparing, and undertaking your trip could have provided invaluable assistance.

Japan Travel Restrictions and Advisories

For those whose destination was Japan, it was essential to stay informed about the country's travel restrictions and advisories related to COVID-19. These may have varied depending on the current situation and government regulations.

Special Deposit Requirements

At Powder Holidays, we understood the uncertainty surrounding travel plans amidst the pandemic. That's why we introduced special deposit requirements tailored to the evolving situation. Here's what you needed to know:

  • Waived Deposits: We waived the need to pay deposits until Japan announced the opening of its borders to tourists.
  • Exchange Rate Considerations: We reserved the right to adjust prices based on exchange rate movements from the date of the booking request. If you wished to lock in the exchange rate at the time of booking, a minimum 20% deposit was required. This deposit was refundable or transferable to a future booking if Japan did not open up for the 22/23 season.
  • Subject to Supplier Requirements: Deposit requirements may have varied depending on the supplier of the service or accommodations, which we advised you of at the time of booking.

At Powder Holidays, we were committed to providing you with a safe and enjoyable ski experience. By staying informed, adhering to guidelines, and planning ahead, you could have navigated travel during COVID-19 with confidence.
